This month's star is Gaizka Pascual

Every month we will introduce you to a colleague. This month's star is Gaizka Pascual. He joined the Spanish Academic Software team since June 2021 as a Business Development Manager.

What exactly do you do at Signpost?
Gaizka: “Together with Albert, José Antonio and Enric I present Academic Software to higher education institutions. I’m responsible for the northern region of Spain: Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco, La Rioja and Aragón, which is perfect because I live in the area of Bilbao.

As a Business Development Manager I’m in contact with a lot of higher education institutions. My goal is to create a valuable conversation or relationship build on trust with every prospect or client. We take a closer look at their digital journey, which is often complex but super fascinating.

What does your day look like?
Gaizka: One of the things I really like is that every day is completely different and brings new opportunities: new learning paths, conversations with customers, with the Spanish team, the international team and the head office at Lokeren, new trends to explore, giving webinars… So each day is a new adventure 😊 But what I like most about my job are the growth opportunities and the possibility to serve the educational sector. This is a super motivational purpose: we take care of students and contribute to a greater cause that transforms our society. How cool is that?

How did you end up working at Signpost?
Gaizka: A good friend had seen the vacancy and told me that this was definitely something for me. After the conversation with Dirk and Andreas I was convinced that it was a perfect match. I never thought I would find a job that combines all my experiences (as an IT Manager, a teacher, consultant and coach).

What are your interests besides work?
Gaizka: “I love to travel. Coming to Lokeren for our monthly sales meeting is always nice, but it’s also a great opportunity to meet people, spend time with family and friends or go out for dinner.

If there is some time left, I like to read, especially about leadership, digital transformation, strategy… There are lots of unread books on my bookshelf or Kindle. A book that I have been carrying with me for some time and that I definitely want to read is ‘The Digital Transformation Playbook’ by David L. Rogers. Colleagues who want to start a book club can always contact me 😉
